What is Marydale Park?
Marydale Park is a brand new 35 acre outdoor recreational facility located within a wilderness surrounding just 20 minutes from the heart of Hamilton’s downtown core, along the majestic shores of Lake Niapenco. Upon its completion, it will be Hamilton’s first multi-purpose, universally accessible, outdoor recreational facility capable of entertaining 1,500 daily visitors.
Marydale Park’s universal accessibility or barrier-free designed is more than having designated wheelchair parking spaces, or a ramp for wheelchairs. The entire facility – from the green spaces and play areas, to the indoor program rooms were designed from the perspective of ensuring independent use by anyone, regardless of their ability.
Who is building Marydale Park?
The Catholic Youth Organization (C.Y.O.) is building Marydale Park for the entire community because we truly believe that every child deserves to play. Our agency has a long history of serving children in need.
In 1972, the C.Y.O. became one of first organizations in Ontario to integrate children with special needs, into our mainstream camping programs. Since then, over 11,000 children with special needs and their families, in our community, have benefited from this unique “One-to-One” respite care program.
